Kotahovi is one of the two Rovaniemi restaurants we tried and would return to. The food was very tasty and the portions were enough for us. It was also a €138 family lunch with a wait, so I would plan it as the day's main restaurant meal rather than a quick snack between bookings.
We visited Lapland Restaurant Kotahovi at Santa Claus Village on 27 November 2025. We walked in around 12:20, waited about half an hour and finished at roughly 14:00.
What we ate and paid
Our meal included two reindeer dishes, soup and non-alcoholic drinks. The total bill was €138. The photographs show the reindeer dish and soup we ate; the total covers the family meal and should not be treated as a price for one plate or a current set menu.
We found the portions adequate, and the meal was one of the reasons we were glad to eat out despite having a kitchen at the apartment. Restaurant prices felt high compared with Poland. For everyday breakfasts and ordinary meals we used groceries; for a meal such as this, we were paying to try something different during the trip.
The wait and the room
We arrived without a reservation. From joining the wait to finishing lunch took about an hour and forty minutes, including the meal itself. That would have been awkward with a timed activity immediately afterwards.
Service was available in English, and we found the indoor space practical for winter clothes and using the toilets. It gave us a proper break from the Village day. I would choose it when everyone is ready to sit down and eat, allowing for a queue.
When to fit it into a Village visit
Kotahovi is a lunch or early-meal option. Its published 2026–27 hours are seasonal: for 3–28 November 2026 it lists Tuesday–Saturday, 12:00–17:00, then daily 12:00–17:00 from 30 November through January. The restaurant also says it does not take reservations during the November–March high winter season.
Check the date before arranging your day around it, particularly in November when the weekly opening pattern changes. Our own 12:20 arrival worked with an unhurried lunch afterwards; it does not predict how long the queue will be on your visit.
Would we return?
Yes. We did not have a particular complaint about the meal. The price and time it took are the practical trade-offs, and I would budget for both rather than pretend this was a low-cost stop.
We would also return to Santa's Salmon Place, where we ordered takeaway on another day. Kotahovi was our sit-down meal. Both fit the three-day family itinerary better when treated as planned meals, with room for a wait.
